Development Team Associates
In September 2010, the Center for Creative Learning began a new Development Laboratory Initiative, in which an invited team of experienced professionals was formed to join with a number of other Center team members to collaborate on creating and reviewing new resources. The Development Team Associates will work with the Center in a number of ongoing projects in addition to new professional development and training activities.
Barbara Bishop
Barbara Bishop began her professional career as an educator at a private school for gifted children. During a hiatus from her teaching career to raise two daughters she received a Masters in Educational Psychology (Gifted) from the University of Connecticut in 2009. She also served as a board member of the Edmonton Association for Bright Children, president of the Alberta Specialist Council for Gifted Education, and consulted on an Alberta special education restructuring project. In September 2009, she began work on a Masters in School Psychology from the University of Alberta.
Connie L. Collins
Connie Collins is Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Saint Francis in Ft. Wayne, In. She has been in education for over 15 years. She holds two master degrees, three endorsements, and is currently enrolled in a doctoral program. She has extensive training and professional development in the areas of differentiation, multi-cultural pedagogy and competence, curriculum and instruction, and practices most commonly associated with high-ability student performance. She has presented at the state, national, and international levels, and enjoys sharing her perspectives with others in collegial reciprocal atmospheres.
Kathy Henderson
Kathy Henderson is a Talented and Gifted Teacher for the West Burlington Independent School District in Iowa. An artist, writer, and educator, Kathy received her master of arts in education from the University of Iowa in 2007. She has been an active leader in the Future Problem Solving Program. Her life and family also have an international flair, with her birth in the Philippines and the birth of grandchildren in Taiwan and Costa Rica. Kathy and her husband Tyrone are also involved in several charitable causes.
Binh Nguyen
Binh enjoys exploring new challenges in life and work. For the past 20 years, Binh has worked with young people helping them to learn to express themselves through experimental art forms and to be art teachers and has been involved with IT business ventures developing e-commerce solutions. He has helped to setup pioneering digital art programs, revised curricula, spearheaded e-learning initiatives and oversaw IT product design. He has worked at the University of Florida, LaSalle College of The Arts, Singapore, the National Institute of Education, Singapore and was a partner in three IT startups in Singapore. Currently, Binh is exploring ways to channel his knowledge and skills in social-entrepreneurial efforts. He holds a B.A. in sculpture from Clarke College, a M.A. and a M.F.A. in multimedia and video art from the University of Iowa and continues to educate himself in engineering and education.
Stephen T. Schroth
Stephen Schroth is an Assistant Professor of Educational Studies at Knox College in Illinois. He holds a PhD in Educational Psychology/Gifted Education from the University of Virginia. While at UVA he worked at the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented (NRC/GT) under Carol Ann Tomlinson and Carolyn M. Callahan. He taught for the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he served as a classroom teacher, literacy coach, lead teacher, gifted coordinator, and arts prototype coordinator in conjunction with the J. Paul Getty Museum. Stephen teaches at Knox College where he has, with his colleague Jason Helfer, written curriculum for the Lyric Opera of Chicago and is the Chair-Elect of the Arts Network of the National Association for Gifted Children.
Ralph Shepardson
Ralph was a math educator in the public schools for 33 years until his retirement in 1999. During that time, he taught computer classes and also served as the computer specialist/technician at the high school level. Following retirement, he served as the part-time computer (Mac) technician at the elementary school level for four years.
